Volleyball Recap: Mahnomen/Waubun Takes a Loss

Mahnomen/Waubun was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Northern Freeze co-op [Marshall County Central/Tri-County] Northern Freeze. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Northern Freeze this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-1 on Saturday.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Mahnomen/Waubun sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The final score came out to 25-23, 20-25, 15-8.

Northern Freeze co-op [Marshall County Central/Tri-County] was led to victory by Ellie Underdahl and Taylor Knutsen. Underdahl had eight digs and two aces, while Knutsen had seven digs, five kills, and one block. The dominant performance also gave Knutsen a new career-high in assists (two).

Mahnomen/Waubun's loss dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Northern Freeze co-op [Marshall County Central/Tri-County], they pushed their record up to 9-11 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Mahnomen/Waubun will head out to take on Win-E-Mac at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Northern Freeze co-op [Marshall County Central/Tri-County], they will be playing at home against Grygla-Gatzke at 7:15 p.m. on Monday.
