Softball Recap: Avon Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against St. Charles North, Avon was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They blew past the Eastern Hancock Royals 24-5. With that win, the Orioles brought their scoring average up to 8 runs per game.

Zoey Chavez was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Kayla Pickering was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-3.

Avon hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive matchups.

Avon's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Eastern Hancock, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Coming up, Avon will be playing at home against Franklin Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Eastern Hancock, they will square off against Shelbyville at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Golden Bears' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Royals' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
