Baseball Recap: Cheney's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Cheney came into Friday's game having lost eight straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against the University Titans by a score of 6-3 on Friday. That's more bragging rights for the Blackhawks, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Brayden Martin made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Cheney's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 3-12 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Jacob Ulrich was excellent, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Chris Wilson also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Cheney's win bumped their record up to 6-13. As for University, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-7 record this season.

Cheney will have a chance to go back-to-back against University: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
