Soccer Recap: Trinity Comes Up Short

Trinity and St. Xavier squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Trinity had to settle for second. While the 0-0 score might suggest a draw, it was the Tigers who were credited with the victory. The St. Xavier Tigers got it done in the shootout by posting four goals to the Trinity Shamrocks' two. Trinity were red-hot offensively heading into the contest (they scored no less than four goals in the five matchups prior), but St. Xavier's defense proved too tough.

Trinity moved to 18-2-2 with that defeat, which also ended their five-match winning streak. As for St. Xavier, they have been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 15 matches. That somehow still isn't as good as their 17-2-3 record this season.

Trinity does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for St. Xavier, they will face off against Louisville Collegiate at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. St. Xavier's defense better be ready for this one: Louisville Collegiate have averaged an impressive 5.5 goals per game this season.
