One of the nation's top hoops recruits in the Class of 2024 has been unstoppable this spring for the Camden soccer team.

Joyce Edwards of Camden (S.C.) is best known as one of the top high school basketball prospects in the Class of 2024 and was named the MaxPreps National Junior of the Year earlier this month. But hoops is only a small portion of her growing sports resume.

ESPNW has Edwards pegged as the No. 2 player in the junior class in basketball and she has been on Camden's varsity squad since her seventh-grade year. Volleyball and soccer were added to her plate as a freshman and she has led all three teams to either a state championship or deep run in the postseason.

Edwards transitions from one sport to the next with ease.

In March, Edwards led the Camden basketball team to a state championship on a Friday with a 33-point effort. Forty-eight hours later, she scored three goals on the soccer field.

Basketball

In 131 games at Camden, Edwards has averaged 23.0 points, 11.4 rebounds, 4.0 steals and 2.4 blocked shots per contest.

Edwards was a first team MaxPreps Sophomore All-American selection in 2021-22 and took her squad to the Class AAA state championship game. The Bulldogs fell 60-58 despite 24 points, 14 rebounds and eight blocks from Edwards.

This season, Edwards was the MaxPreps National Junior of the Year. She capped her campaign with 33 points, 13 rebounds and five steals in a state championship victory while also crossing the 3,000-point mark for her career in the game.

Soccer

This spring, the Camden soccer team has a 16-1-1 record thanks in large part to the efforts of Edwards, who has 32 goals and nine assists. In a three-game stretch between March 28 and April 5, she piled up 11 goals – including five in one game.

As a sophomore she scored 31 goals with 21 assists to lead the Bulldogs to a 15-5 record and the Class AAA quarterfinals.

Volleyball

Edwards helped take Camden to the third round of the state playoffs in each of the last two seasons. She led the team in kills both years.

The Camden sensation is a leading candidate for MaxPreps National Female Athlete of the Year honors. Kiki Rice of Sidwell Friends (Washington, D.C.) and now a freshman at UCLA won the award last year after leading her school to a national championship in basketball and a state title in soccer.
