Preview: Boulder City Eagles vs. The Meadows School Mustangs
Boulder City and the Mustangs are an even 3-3 against one another since December of 2014, but not for long. The Boulder City Eagles will head out on the road to take on The Meadows School Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Boulder City comes in on five and the Mustangs on eight.
Boulder City put the finishing touches on their 11th blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They really took it to Doral Academy Red Rock for the full four quarters, racking up a 80-34 victory on the road. Given Boulder City's advantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while the Dragons are ranked 96th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Roman Rose continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 24 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Another player making a difference was Luke Wright, who scored 19 points along with two steals.
The Meadows School proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 43) but on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Sports Leadership & Management 57-54.
Boulder City pushed their record up to 17-3 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.6 points per game. As for The Meadows School, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a massive bump to their 16-7 record this season.
Boulder City couldn't quite finish off the Mustangs when the teams last played back in January and fell 62-60. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of The Meadows School's Cyrus Hutchison, who dropped a double-double on 33 points and 12 rebounds. Now that Boulder City knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
