Basketball Recap: Malakoff Takes a Loss

Malakoff lost against Grand Saline back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Malakoff Tigers took a 69-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Grand Saline Indians.

Landon Mayne was his usual excellent self, going 12-for-21 to rack up 30 points and four steals for Grand Saline. Thanks to that strong game, Mayne now owns an excellent 45.2% field goal percentage. Another player making a difference was Blane Thompson, who posted six points in addition to nine assists and three steals.

Malakoff's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Grand Saline, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season.

Malakoff does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Grand Saline, they will head out on the road to take on Troup at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Grand Saline is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.6 points per game this season.
