Basketball Recap: Baron Hall Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Wewahitchka

Poplar Springs won the last time they faced Wewahitchka and things went their way on Monday too. The Poplar Springs Atomics walked away with a 58-45 victory over the Wewahitchka Gators.

Poplar Springs got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Baron Hall out in front who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten boards. Ben Earnest was another key player, going 6 of 11 en route to 15 points and eight rebounds.

Despite the defeat, Wewahitchka saw an underclassman step up: freshman Rhemy Patrick went 5 for 10 on his way to 11 points along with six assists and four steals. Patrick is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Antone Mcnealy, who posted eight points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Poplar Springs' victory bumped their record up to 5-11. As for Wewahitchka, they dropped their record down to 5-10 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

Poplar Springs has already played their next match, a 64-58 win against Vernon on the 14th. Wewahitchka has also already played their next contest (against Altha), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
