Baseball Game Preview: Oceanside Pirates vs. Westview Wolverines

For the second straight game, Oceanside will face off against Westview. The Pirates will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wolverines at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Oceanside fell victim to Westview and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 22-0 to the Wolverines.

For Westview's part, Logan Johnson tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over six innings pitched. Johnson has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Charles Jaskowiak was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two triples, and two stolen bases. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mahir Desai, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one double.

Westview was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .575. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Westview is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 15 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Oceanside, they dropped their record down to 9-17 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
