Soccer Recap: La Vernia's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to 21

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but La Vernia had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 4-1 margin over the Calallen Wildcats. Given La Vernia's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 99th, while Calallen are ranked 379th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The victory was the 21st in a row for La Vernia, bringing their record up to 24-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up nine goals over those 21 contests.
