Softball Recap: Dayton Bulldogs vs. Colton Wildcats
After having lost a blowout in their previous game, Dayton was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past the Colton Wildcats 17-16. Both teams can probably skip cardio this week after making that many trips around the bases.
Peyton Benavides was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Benavides was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with a home run, three runs, and four RBI.
In other batting news, Dayton got a massive performance out of Marissa Tupling, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 4-for-4. Kamryn Tupling was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
Dayton's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Colton, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
Dayton will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Garfield-Palouse at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Dayton is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 16.2 runs per game this season.
