Softball Recap: Pleasant Hill Has No Trouble Against Routt Catholic

Pleasant Hill won the last time they faced Routt Catholic and things went their way on Thursday too. The Wolves put the hurt on the Rockets with a sharp 13-2 victory. The Wolves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by 11 runs or more this season.

Ava Wombles made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Kaitlyn Borrowman was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and one run. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Abi Henderson was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Pleasant Hill's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Routt Catholic, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.

Coming up, Pleasant Hill will head out to square off against West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Routt Catholic, they will be playing in front of their home fans against New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
