Basketball Recap: Naomi Nnewihe and Scarlett Fletcher Secure Win for Ocean City

Ocean City hadn't done well against Mainland Regional recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Ocean City Raiders managed a 43-38 victory over the Mainland Regional Mustangs. This was a revenge game for the Raiders: when they faced off against the Mustangs back in January, they had to take a 45-40 defeat.

Ocean City was led to victory by Scarlett Fletcher and Naomi Nnewihe. Fletcher dropped a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds, while Nnewihe posted 15 points along with five boards and four steals. The dominant performance gave Fletcher a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Allie Hudson, who earned five points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Ocean City's win bumped their record up to 13-11. As for Mainland Regional, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 14 matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season.

Coming up, Ocean City will venture away from home to face off against Haddon Heights at 11:30 a.m. on February 22nd. Mainland Regional does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
