Avon had to settle for second on Monday, but Matt Sheldon sure wasn't going down easily. Sheldon wasn't messing around, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. The pitching appearance was his fourth straight with two or fewer walks.

Even though Sheldon couldn't lead Avon over Avon Lake, he won't have to wait long to try again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Sadly, Sheldon's big day wasn't enough to stop the loss, which snapped the Eagles' three-game streak of wins on the road. With the streak broken, Sheldon and the Eagles surely have a bit of extra motivation heading into Tuesday's match.
