Basketball Recap: Vernon Beats Jacksboro for Their Fifth Straight Victory

Vernon had won four straight games and Key'Maria Mcbride did her part to make it five on Tuesday. The Vernon Lions took down the Jacksboro Tigers 45-31 thanks in part to Mcbride, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 boards. Mcbride is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season.

Jacksboro's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hayden Walker, who posted ten points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Brailyn Tullous, who had seven points and five steals.

Vernon has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. As for Jacksboro, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5.

Vernon wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 47-46 victory against Childress on the 12th. As for Jacksboro, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 45-43 win against Bellevue on the 12th.
