Softball Preview: Crowley Gent vs. Ville Platte Bulldogs
The Crowley Gent will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against the Ville Platte Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. Ville Platte took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Crowley, who comes in off a win.
Crowley can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent match on Thursday. They put the hurt on Midland with a sharp 14-3 win. The high-scoring effort was just what Crowley needed considering they were shutout in their previous game.
Erika Hebert was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Hebert was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, Zoe Giles was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. China Williams was another key contributor, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Ville Platte was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. Their rough 19-3 defeat to Mamou might stick with them for a while.
Destiny Lavigne made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-1 with a home run. Another player making a difference was Keelyn Bias, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2.
Crowley's victory bumped their record up to 7-11. As for Ville Platte, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.
