Baseball Game Preview: Lake Forest Scouts vs. Saint Viator Lions

The Lake Forest Scouts will head out to challenge the Saint Viator Lions at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Lake Forest will be strutting in after a win while Saint Viator will be coming in after a defeat.

While Scouts fans will have to keep waiting for their squad to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Tuesday's season opener. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Grayslake North a 16-0 shutout on Tuesday.

Nate Brezak looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Stephen Cole, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles. Bink Hartline was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Saint Viator came up short against Glenbrook South on Tuesday and fell 6-3.

Saint Viator also got a good showing from Frank Clary, who pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

On the hitting side, Saint Viator saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brandon Thomsen, who went 1-for-4 with one double.

Lake Forest suffered a grim 11-3 defeat to Saint Viator in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can Lake Forest avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
