Softball Recap: Kirtland Hornets vs. Cuyahoga Heights Red Wolves
Kirtland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 13-8 to the Cuyahoga Heights Red Wolves. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Kirtland of the 13-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2021.
Maggie Kothera made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 1-for-3. Kennedy Boyd was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Even though they lost, Kirtland didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with seven strikeouts. That's the most strikeouts they've managed all season.
Kirtland's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Cuyahoga Heights, their victory bumped their record up to 3-6.
