Softball Recap: Jonesboro Hurricane vs. Cross County Thunderbirds
After some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last three contests, Jonesboro finally came back down to earth on Thursday. They lost 14-1 to the Cross County Thunderbirds.
Jonesboro saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Katlyn Lynch, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles. Those doubles were Lynch's first of the season.
Even though they lost, Jonesboro was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .400 or higher in three consecutive games.
Jonesboro now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Cross County, the win snapped their losing streak at five games dating back to last season and leaves them with a 1-4 record.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jonesboro will venture away from home to face off against Hoxie at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Cross County, they will head out on the road to take on Trumann at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Cross County will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
