Basketball Game Preview: Vermillion Tanagers vs. Beresford Watchdogs

The Vermillion Tanagers will head out on the road to face off against the Beresford Watchdogs at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Vermillion will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Vermillion is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of South Dakota's top teams: Parkston, who was ranked 13th at the time (Vermillion was ranked 12th). Vermillion pulled ahead with a 55-54 photo finish over Parkston on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Beresford suffered their biggest loss since February 20, 2024 on Thursday. They took a blow against Sioux Valley, falling 66-39.

Vermillion's victory bumped their record up to 12-3. As for Beresford, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.

Everything came up roses for Vermillion against Beresford in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, as the squad secured a 67-31 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Vermillion since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
