Baseball Game Preview: Maranacook Black Bears vs. Madison Bulldogs

The Maranacook Black Bears will take on the Madison Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Maranacook barely beat Old Orchard Beach the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Black Bears blew past the Seagulls 8-2 on Monday. That six run margin sets a new team best for the Black Bears this season.

Caldre Glowa was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Walker Dumas was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

Madison never got on the board in their matchup on Wednesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Spruce Mountain on Monday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Phoenix. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won three games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Jayden Horton spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Owhen VanGordon was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Another player making a difference was Landon Dunham, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Madison always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Madison now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Maranacook, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
