Softball Recap: St. Paul Catholic Wins Going Away Against Waterbury Career Academy

St. Paul Catholic never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They blew past the Waterbury Career Academy Spartans 14-0. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won 11 matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Isabella McCulloch, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily McCulloch, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and three runs.

St. Paul Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .656. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Waterbury Career Academy only posted an OBP of .250.

St. Paul Catholic's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Waterbury Career Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. St. Paul Catholic will take on rival Wolcott at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Falcons 3.1, the Eagles 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Waterbury Career Academy is set to face off against their familiar foe Torrington at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
