Basketball Recap: Grundy County/Newtown-Harris' Loss Ends 11-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Grundy County/Newtown-Harris played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Meadville Eagles, falling 57-37. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Grundy County/Newtown-Harris still got an impressive performance from Hunter Miller, who went 11 of 24 on his way to 26 points and three steals. The game was Miller's 11th in a row with at least ten points.

Leading Meadville to victory were Carter Thompson and Walker Norris. Thompson went 7 for 10 en route to 18 points, while Norris went 6 of 10 on his way to 15 points and six boards. What's more, Thompson also racked up two steals, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Reece Meyers, who posted eight points.

Grundy County/Newtown-Harris' defeat ended an 11-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 10-8. As for Meadville, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season.

Grundy County/Newtown-Harris will square off against Gilman City/North Daviess at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Meadville, they will face off against Tina-Avalon at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
