Volleyball Recap: Regina Starts Season with Win on the Road

Regina had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Utica Chieftains on Thursday. This was payback for Regina, who suffered a 2-1 defeat the last time these two teams met.

While Regina won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the first set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-17.

Marisa Vushaj paced Regina's offense, picking up six kills. Vushaj got some help from Cat Jenkins and her 13 assists. Jenkins was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Utica dropped their record down to 0-4-1 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Regina didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-1 defeat against L'Anse Creuse North on the 21st. As for Utica, they have also already played their next game, a 2-1 win against Anchor Bay on the 21st.
