Abington Heights strolled into their game on Thursday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Mid Valley Spartans. The Comets have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Spartans, too.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Abington Heights took every set by at least 11 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-4, 25-14, 25-9.

Abington Heights was led to victory by Madison Smith and Brielle Wentz. Smith had eight digs and eight aces, while Wentz had 20 assists and three aces. Those eight aces gave Smith a new career-high. Bella Carr also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

They weren't the only good servers: Abington Heights was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 21 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in 20 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Mid Valley's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Arianna Vitaletti, who had 16 digs. Aubrey Comstock was another key player, getting four aces.

Abington Heights' record now sits at 9-0. As for Mid Valley, their loss was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-6.

Abington Heights didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against Wyalusing Valley on the 20th. As for Mid Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Elk Lake on the 22nd.
