Preview: Coosa Christian Conquerors vs. Leroy Bears

Coosa Christian has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Leroy Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams have allowed few points on average, (Coosa Christian: 5, Leroy: 10.5) so any points scored will be well earned.

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Coosa Christian walked away with it. They walked away with a 21-12 win over the Tornadoes on Friday.

Coosa Christian relied on the efforts of Josh Hester, who rushed for 96 yards and a touchdown, and Kanon Wilson, who rushed for 159 yards and a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Leroy put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Elba and snuck past 27-24.

Leroy had a senior duo take command as Brayden Huebner threw for 265 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 10.6 yards per attempt and Taylor Crumedy picked up 186 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Crumedy's longest reception was for an incredible 83 yards.

Coosa Christian's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-1-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.4 points per game. As for Leroy, their win bumped their record up to 13-0.

Thursday's match might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Coosa Christian has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 233.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Leroy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 149.8 per game. It's looking like Thursday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
