Basketball Recap: Gadsden Comes Up Short

Gadsden lost against Las Cruces back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Gadsden Panthers were dealt a 54-10 loss at the hands of the Las Cruces Bulldawgs. The matchup marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Las Cruces was led to victory by Danae Pacheco and Bethzy Quinones. Pacheco went 5 for 10 en route to 17 points, while Quinones went 5 of 9 to rack up 10 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Quinones has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sofia Herrera, who posted five points and six boards.

Gadsden has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season. As for Las Cruces, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season.

Looking ahead, Gadsden will welcome Centennial at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Las Cruces, they will head out on the road to take on Organ Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
