Recap: Waterford Wildcats vs. Denair Coyotes

If the Waterford Wildcats were riding high off their 53-24 takedown of the Gustine Reds last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Waterford took a 58-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Denair on Tuesday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Waterford in their matchups with Denair: they've now lost four in a row.

Waterford's loss came despite strong showings from Izaiah Sanchez and Christian Gayle. Sanchez scored 16 points, while Gayle scored 16 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sanchez has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Santiago Hernandez, who scored eight points.

It was another big night for Koby Cervantes, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 12 rebounds for Denair. Cervantes hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. Wyatt Barber was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 14 rebounds.

Waterford's loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 9-12. As for Denair, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 9-11 record this season.

Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Delhi the next time they take the court. Denair will host Delhi at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Waterford will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
