Basketball Recap: Shawnee Mission Christian Comes Up Short

Shawnee Mission Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 52-1 loss at the hands of the First Baptist Crusaders. The game marked the Mustangs' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Leading First Baptist to victory were Lydia Wynja and Taylor Zschokke. Wynja went 8 of 10 on her way to 18 points and eight boards, while Zschokke went 6 for 7 en route to 13 points and six steals. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Wynja has scored at least a third of First Baptist's points. Another player making a difference was Keira Wynja, who posted four points and seven steals.

Shawnee Mission Christian's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for First Baptist, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-3.
