Softball Recap: La Crescent Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

La Crescent barely beat Rushford-Peterson the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Lancers blew past the Trojans 14-6 on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Lancers in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won eight in a row.

Maleah Moldenhauer made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off ten hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, La Crescent let Addie Murilla and Lexi Kiesau run wild. Murilla went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Kiesau went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those two runs gave Murilla a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nadia Woodard, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

La Crescent pushed their record up to 10-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Rushford-Peterson, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.

Coming up, La Crescent is taking a road trip to square off against Caledonia at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Lancers 2.8, the Warriors 1.3) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Rushford-Peterson, they will host Cotter at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
