Preview: Symmes Valley Vikings vs. Western Indians
Symmes Valley and Western are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2018, but not for long. The Symmes Valley Vikings will head out on the road to take on the Western Indians at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Symmes Valley is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
On Friday, Symmes Valley was the victim of a tough 79-53 loss at the hands of Eastern. Symmes Valley was down 66-42 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Despite their loss, Symmes Valley saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Ethan Smith, who scored 18 points, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Tanner Corn, who scored 12 points.
Symmes Valley struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Western came up short against South Gallia on Friday and fell 48-37. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Western has scored all season.
Symmes Valley's record is now 11-8. Western's record is now 6-13.
Symmes Valley didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Western when the teams last played back in January, but they still walked away with a 59-53 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Symmes Valley since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
