Baseball Game Preview: St. John Eagles vs. Catholic of Pointe Coupee Hornets

The St. John Eagles will face off against the Catholic of Pointe Coupee Hornets at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Catholic of Pointe Coupee took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on St. John, who comes in off a win.

On Saturday, St. John got the win against Oakdale by a conclusive 13-2. Considering the Eagles have won five matches by more than eight runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Saturday just wasn't the day for Catholic of Pointe Coupee's offense. They lost 12-0 to Ascension Christian on Saturday. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Hornets were not able to get on the board.

St. John is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. Catholic of Pointe Coupee has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.

St. John came up short against Catholic of Pointe Coupee in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 8-5. Can St. John avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
