Recap: Steubenville Big Red vs. Marietta Tigers
The Steubenville Big Red entered their tilt with the Marietta Tigers with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. Steubenville rang in the new year with a 55-46 victory over Marietta on Saturday.
Steubenville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nylah Mcshan led the charge by dropping a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. The match was Mcshan's 13th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Paige Matteson, who scored 11 points.
Steubenville's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points per game. As for Marietta, their loss ended a 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 10-2.
Steubenville will head out on the road to face off against John Marshall at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. John Marshall has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Marietta, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Fort Frye at 7:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Ohio (Fort Frye is ranked 54th, while Marietta is ranked 40th).
