Baseball Recap: Hico Tigers vs. Lipan Indians
Hico had lost eight straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 5-10-1 to make it nine. They fell just short of the Lipan Indians by a score of 9-8. The Tigers were not able to make up for their loss to the Indians from their previous meeting back in February of 2024.
As for Lipan, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games.
For Lipan's part, Brayden Harrison was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most stolen bases Harrison has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Johnny Pierce, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Hico will take on rival Santo at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Lipan is set to square off against their familiar foe Poolville at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Indians 4, the Monarchs 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
