Matthew Trumpy made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and four RBI. He has become a key player for Ferndale: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 4-12-1 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Taylor Williams, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI. Ferndale is 7-3 when Williams posts two or more stolen bases, but 1-10-1 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Kaiden Robinson, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Ferndale always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive games.
Ferndale's win bumped their record up to 8-13-1. As for Warren Woods-Tower, their loss dropped their record down to 5-10.
Warren Woods-Tower suffered a grim 17-3 defeat to Ferndale when the teams last played back in April of 2022. Can the Titans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
