League recap: League lead hangs in balance for Albion, Royalton-Hartland this week

This could be a critical week for Albion, which holds a 1.50-game lead over Royalton-Hartland for the league's top spot in the standings.

The Purple Eagles (12-2, 8-1) are riding a league-best 6-game winning streak. Three of those wins came in the past week, includinga 3-2 victory over Medina.

Medina boasted the best pitching over the past week, holding opponents to the league's fewest hits and issuing the fewest walks. On the season, the Mustangs have allowed just 90 hits, while striking out 86 batters. Scott Petry leads the Mustangs with 39 strikeouts in 33 innings.

Although Barker finished first in the league this week with 73 hits, Medina still sits atop the the league leaderboard with 128 total hits this season. Alonzo St. Louis has a team-high 13 hits on the season for seventh-place the Raiders, which went 2-3 this week.
