Volleyball Recap: Hauppauge Beats Smithtown East for Their Third Straight Victory

Hauppauge waltzed into their matchup on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Smithtown East Bulls by a score of 3-1. This was a revenge game for the Eagles: when they faced off against the Bulls last Saturday, they had to take a 1-0 loss.

While Hauppauge might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Smithtown East scored at least 18 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-27, 25-22, 25-18.

Peyton Kulesa paced Hauppauge's offense, picking up 11 kills. Kulesa got some help from Jenna Gennari and her 17 assists. Kulesa was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Despite the defeat, Smithtown East saw an underclassman step up: freshman Rosemarie Remsen had 16 assists and five digs. Remsen is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 15 or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Hauppauge's victory bumped their record up to 11-4. As for Smithtown East, they moved to 19-4-5 with that loss, which also ended their three-match winning streak.

Hauppauge has already played their next contest, a 3-1 win against East Islip on the 8th. As for Smithtown East, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Eastport-South Manor on the 8th.
