Preview: Wausau West Warriors vs. Wausau East Lumberjacks

The Wausau West Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the Wausau East Lumberjacks at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Thursday, Wausau West was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 61-57 to D.C. Everest.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Brett Butalla, who scored 15 points along with five assists. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Lucas Hager was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.

Meanwhile, Wausau East didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln on Thursday, but they still walked away with a 76-70 victory. Given Wausau East's advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 75th, while Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln is ranked 254th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Wausau West's defeat dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Wausau East, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-5.

Wausau West took a serious blow against Wausau East in their previous meeting back in January, falling 90-52. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Wausau East's Jesse Napgezek, who scored 21 points. Now that Wausau West knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
