Football Recap: Culver City Takes a Loss

Culver City extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 3-5. They were beaten by the Leuzinger Olympians 47-7. The Centaurs were not able to make up for their defeat to the Olympians from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Culver City lost, don't look at Harley Moore. Despite the final result, he picked up 126 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Even if they lost, Culver City's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Jordan Njoku, Shelton Bryant, and Kem Anuluoha, who each picked up one sack apiece. Another thorn in Leuzinger's side was Njoku, who picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made 13 total tackles.

As for Leuzinger, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-1. The result was nothing new for the Olympians, who have now won four games by 26 points or more so far this season.

Leuzinger's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kelton Strickland led the charge by rushing for 149 yards and one TD on only nine carries. Strickland's longest rush was for an incredible 85 yards. Journee Tonga was in the mix too, providing Leuzinger with two scores.

Culver City wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 48-0 win against Lawndale on the 24th. As for Leuzinger, they have also already played their next matchup, a 27-14 victory against Mira Costa on the 24th.
