Softball Preview: Anderson County Bulldogs vs. Wellsville Eagles
Anderson County is on a five-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and Wellsville a three-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Tuesday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the rust and duke it out at 4:30 p.m.
Last Tuesday, Anderson County came up short against Osawatomie and fell 8-5.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wellsville). Their pitcher stepped up to hand Louisburg an 11-0 shutout last Thursday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Eagles as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
The team relied heavily on Graceyn Hedrick, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-3. She also put up a triple, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Tatum Courter, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Wellsville lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.
The win got Wellsville back to even at 5-5. As for Anderson County, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.
