Softball Recap: Dixie Heights Comes Up Short

If Dixie Heights was feeling good fresh off their 19-0 takedown of St. Henry on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Colonels lost 11-1 to the Carroll County Panthers on Saturday. The Colonels haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Dixie Heights saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was 11 Ava Neimer, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. That triple was Neimer's first of the season. Another was Sam Skees, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.

Dixie Heights' loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Carroll County, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.

Dixie Heights will take on Cooper at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Colonels are facing the Jaguars at the right time seeing as the Jaguars are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Carroll County, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Owen County at 6:00 p.m. The Panthers will also cruise into their next matchup with the timing on their side: the Rebels will have lost six straight heading into Tuesday's contest.
