Pensacola Catholic came tearing into Thursday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Crestview Bulldogs with a sharp 13-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Crusaders, who have now won five contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Gabe Mercado spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Colton Guillot was excellent, scoring three runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February. Brody Kohr also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Pensacola Catholic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Pensacola Catholic now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Crestview, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-13.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pensacola Catholic will welcome Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pensacola Catholic's pitchers better be ready for this one: Central has averaged an impressive 10.6 runs per game this season. As for Crestview, they will be playing at home against Navarre at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
