Soccer Game Preview: Sweetwater vs. San Ysidro

The Sweetwater Red Devils will venture away from home to square off against the San Ysidro Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Sweetwater is headed into Thursday's contest hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight defeats. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Monte Vista on Monday. That's two games in a row now that the Red Devils have lost by exactly two goals.

Meanwhile, San Ysidro kept a clean sheet against Montgomery on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Aztecs with a sharp 3-0 win. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 397th, while the Aztecs are ranked 833rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Sweetwater's loss dropped their record down to 13-4-4. As for San Ysidro, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-6-4.

Sweetwater was able to grind out a solid win over San Ysidro in their previous matchup two weeks ago, winning 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sweetwater since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
