Baseball Recap: Oswayo Valley Victorious

Oswayo Valley took a 15-run defeat the last time they faced off against Youngsville, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Green Wave had just enough and edged out the Eagles 8-7 on Friday. This was payback for the Green Wave, who suffered a 15-0 loss the last time these two teams met.

Drayton Norton was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Norton was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Oswayo Valley let Isaiah Goode and Dawson Welch run wild. Goode scored two runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-4, while Welch scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave Goode a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sage McCleaft, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one stolen base.

Oswayo Valley now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Youngsville, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Oswayo Valley wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 7-2 defeat against Smethport on the 4th. As for Youngsville, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 14-1 victory against Eisenhower on the 9th.
