Softball Game Preview: Hauser Jets vs. South Decatur Cougars

For the second straight game, Hauser will face off against South Decatur. The Jets will welcome the Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.

Hauser gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against South Decatur by a score of 11-8.

Haven Hartwell made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up three earned (and five unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Hauser let Isabelle Brunner and Lucie Asher run wild. Brunner went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Asher went 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Lexie Hamilton was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

Hauser kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

South Decatur's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Hauser, their win bumped their record up to 8-5.

Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Hauser hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .341. However, it's not like South Decatur struggles in that department as they've averaged .398. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
