Bellevue West hasn't had much luck against Papillion-LaVista South recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Thunderbirds will be playing in front of their home fans against the Titans at 10:00 a.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Saturday.
Papillion-LaVista South will be up against a hot Bellevue West squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Thunderbirds' pitcher stepped up to hand Buena Vista a 10-0 shutout on Wednesday.

Grace Veik was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jaycee Woodard, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Busch, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Bellevue West always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .619. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Buena Vista only posted an OBP of .133.
Papillion-LaVista South not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since September 6th (when they won 12-0). They were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over Omaha South. Considering the Titans have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Hailey Rasmussen looked comfortable as she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
At the plate, Kaitlyn Herd was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. Maizey Macke was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one double.
Bellevue West's victory bumped their record up to 9-19. As for Papillion-LaVista South, their win bumped their record up to 14-12.
Saturday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Bellevue West hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .327. However, it's not like Papillion-LaVista South struggles in that department as they've averaged .341. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
