Softball Recap: Jacobs Takes a Loss

Jacobs suffered their closest defeat since May 4, 2024 on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Hampshire Whip-Purs by a score of 6-4. The Golden Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Whip-Purs earlier this season, when they won 12-11.

Talia Disilvio was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Audrey Wetzel, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Jacobs' loss dropped their record down to 12-11. As for Hampshire, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6-1 record this season.

Jacobs and Hampshire could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Golden Eagles (ranked 162nd) will meet Huntley (ranked 38th) at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Hampshire will take on Prairie Ridge at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (98 vs. 32).
