Baseball Recap: Hilliard Bradley Triumphs

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Hilliard Bradley ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Hamilton Township Rangers 7-6. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Jaguars.

Logan Minamyer made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off eight hits. Minamyer was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

In other pitching news, Connor Stubblefield looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hilliard Bradley is 2-1 when Stubblefield allows one or fewer hits, but 7-11 otherwise.

Back at the plate, Vince Navarro was incredible, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nick Barkhimer, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Hilliard Bradley's win bumped their record up to 9-12. As for Hamilton Township, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-11.

Looking ahead, Hilliard Bradley is taking a road trip to face off against Mt. Vernon at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Hamilton Township, they will welcome Fairfield Union at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
