Baseball Game Preview: New Trier Trevians vs. Oak Park-River Forest Huskies

The New Trier Trevians will square off against the Oak Park-River Forest Huskies at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Oak Park-River Forest took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on New Trier, who comes in off a win.

New Trier's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past Buffalo Grove 8-0. The Trevians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by six runs or more this season.

Buffalo Grove's batters probably weren't too happy with Greg Campitelli, who pitched a no hitter (he gave up a single walk). Campitelli has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Ben Toft was a standout: he scored two runs while going 2-for-4. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jake Bentivenga, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Oak Park-River Forest didn't have quite enough to beat Lockport on Monday and fell 5-4. The Huskies have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The victory made it two in a row for New Trier and bumps their season record up to 6-1-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Oak Park-River Forest, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

New Trier took their victory against Oak Park-River Forest in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 8-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for New Trier since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
