Warsaw is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Monday. They will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wawasee Warriors at 5:30 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Monday.
Wawasee will be up against a hot Warsaw squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Everything went the Tigers' way against New Haven on Friday as they made off with a 14-3 win. That 11 run margin sets a new team best for the Tigers this season.
The team relied heavily on Addyson Sainer, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those hits marked the first that she has got this season. Mia Rodriguez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wawasee). They blew past Triton 23-2 on Saturday. The Warriors have beaten the Trojans the last nine times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Trojans has come to flipping the script.
Kirra Alvarez and Olivia Krichbaum made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Alvarez tossed three innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Krichbaum pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. At bat, Alvarez got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Krichbaum went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Audra Weaver was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Abbagail Willey, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Wawasee hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Triton struck out eight times.
Warsaw's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Wawasee, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-6.
Warsaw might still be hurting after the 14-2 loss they got from Wawasee when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
